We thought that it may be helpful to follow the online trend for infographics. So, we have produced one for Ofcom.

<EDIT>
We’ve received emails from Ofcom regarding this infographic. They would like us to ‘correct’ the information that we took from their annual report:
- Colette Bowe is a non-executive Chairman of Ofcom. She is not a Group Director. Therefore she is not entitled to a bonus.
- Colette is not on the Board on Morgan Stanley. When the Annual Report was published last summer she was. But she has since stepped down. Updated details can be found on Colette’s biography on the Ofcom website.
- Ofcom’s grant-in-aid last year was £94,354,000 (see page 79 of the Annual Report for 2010/11). The figure you refer to on page 77 is the budgeted grant-in-aid for the year. However, due to efficiency savings Ofcom underspent against budget so the difference between budget and outturn was remitted back.
We’ll allow the reader to decide if the points above have any significance to the overall content, whilst not adding that we could have pointed out that the average salary at Ofcom for the 720 staff amounts to approx £67k, or that a 6% ‘inaccuracy’ in the amount of grant in aid is statistically irrelevant or that the Prime Ministers salary is £142500 and Colette Browe’s salary is £45K per annum more than that to chair a single department.
Obviously, the reader can also decide on the attitude of Ofcom when they feel the need to try and fiddle with infographics produced by their detractors, rather than actually doing something meaningful.
Richard has a fair few years in the technology industry, including starting his own ISP which is still successfully trading. Rarely without an opinion, and often with a worthwhile one.
